About Alistair Horscroft
Founder, The Mind Academy
Alistair Horscroft is a practitioner, trainer, and developer in behavioural change, with over two decades of experience working across coaching, therapy, health, and high-performance environments.
He is the founder of The Mind Academy, where he trains coaches, therapists, and practitioners in a methodology built around how change actually occurs—rather than how it is commonly taught.
Professional Focus
Alistair’s work is centred on a clear distinction between signal and noise—between what appears useful, and what consistently produces real change.
Across coaching, therapy, and personal development, the field is saturated with models, techniques, and competing approaches. Much of it is well-intentioned, but not all of it is effective in practice.
His focus is on identifying what actually works, and removing what does not.
This includes working with the whole mind—both conscious and subconscious—recognising that behaviour, decision-making, and emotional responses are shaped by how these systems interact, not by either in isolation.
The result is a more direct, precise, and reliable approach to change in real-world conditions.
Training and Methodology
Over 25 years, Alistair has worked across hypnotherapy, NLP, coaching, psychology, psychotherapy, and brain-based approaches—treating them not as separate disciplines, but as components of a larger system.
He has distilled these into a unified body of work focused on what consistently produces real-world results.
This underpins his original methodologies, including Subconscious Narratives (The Hummingbird Method), as well as his work in identity and behavioural change..
Experience and Impact
Alistair has trained thousands of practitioners internationally and has applied his work across a wide range of real-world environments where results matter.
His work has included:
Training and advising elite performers, including Olympians and world champions
Developing and delivering government-backed programs, including a Return to Work initiative for long-term unemployed individuals
Creating the Diploma of Modern Psychology, a government-accredited qualification delivered over eight years
Designing the Fearless Program, implemented at Taronga Zoo and Australia Zoo to resolve severe phobic responses
Introducing integrated behavioural and emotional change programs into UK health environments
He has also demonstrated his work publicly through a 15-episode Discovery Channel series (The Life Guru), showcasing applied change in real situations, and contributed as a media expert across major UK outlets.
Background
Alistair holds an Honours Degree in Philosophy (Philosophy of Mind) and has trained with early leaders in hypnotherapy, coaching, and NLP, including Richard Bandler, John Overdurff, Julie Silverthorne, and Paul McKenna.
He was also one of a limited number granted permission to use the work of Dr. David Hawkins (Power vs. Force), alongside holding multiple qualifications across behavioural and health disciplines.
